QB Joe Heismann threw for 214 yds and 2 TD`s and Mike Simmons had 92 yds rushing in the Terror`s impressive Gridiron Simulation League debut win, 34-31 versus the Wisconsin Stags.

It was a back and forth battle all night, with each team gaining the upper hand at various junctures of the contest.

With the Terror down 31-24 with 3:17 left in the 3rd quarter, Heismann hit WR Paul Samotti on a slant pattern at the Stags 24 yd line , which he took into the endzone to tie the game at 31-31.

Late in the 4th , Heismann hit WR SJ Brown with a deep ball over the middle on a 3rd and 11 and the ball was at the Stags 38. The drive stalled,  but the Terror`s little Danish kicker, Flemming Weggerhoffer,  booted the winning 55 yd field goal.

A very impressive win as we move on to the home opener on Sunday night against the Baltimore Bluebirds.

TERROR - 42  SAN ANTONIO - 28

IIt wasn`t looking good for the Toronto Terror last Sunday night in the home opener against Baltimore. It wasn`t looking good at all.

Down 28-14 entering the 3rd quarter, a couple of interceptions by Andre Coleman-Berger and Emmitt Millbarge, both returned for touchdowns, turned the tide in the Terror`s favor. " Good instinct by ACB and Milly on those picks. We worked on it a bit in practice and watched a good bit of tape this week so I think that`s what helped , " said head coach Leo Hill.

The D had tied the game at 28-28, and now it was the offense who seized the initiative. With 5:55 left in the 4th, RB Mike Simmons took a quick pitch from QB Joe Heismann and rumbled 41 yards to paydirt for a 35-28 lead they would not give up. " X man ( Xavier Young ) make the block. That`s all I needed and I was gone, " said Simmons. It was his 3rd TD of the game and sent the crowd of 269 ( social distancing in effect) into a frenzy.

After the game , coach Leo Hill quipped, " I don`t think they had a game plan for our black alt jerseys. We surprised them a bit I think, maybe they thought we would break out the plum unis."

Lets hope the white jerseys and plum pants are as lucky next week as the Terror travel to San Antonio in week 3.

This Terror team can score , plain and simple, and the San Antonio Texans felt its wrath in week 3 . Final score Terror 42 Texans - 28.

The result of this one for the most part never seemed in doubt,  as the Terror exploded for 3 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and never looked back.

After opening the scoring in the first on a Harvey Harris 1 yd plunge , a fumble recovery by LB Cletus Fowler on the Texans 12 yd line spelled trouble for San Antonio,  as the Terror found an opportunity.

Deadly in the red zone so far this GSL season, QB Joe Heismann hit WR Ivan Gleeson in the back of the end zone for his first TD catch of the year. A stretching catch where he tiptoed and managed to scrape his cleats before touching the paint. " Great toss by Joe there and it felt good to be able to haul it in," said Gleeson.

After a 3 and out , Heismann hit SJ Brown on a perfect deep ball - an astounding 63 yd bomb that put the Terror up 21-7.

Later in the quarter a blitzing Lucius Lewis forced an errant pass and an easy pick for Craig Jefferson. With the ball at the Texans 23, Mike Simmons took the handoff and with a great block by Terry Rayglass, took it to the house. 28-7 Terror at the half.

The Terror received the 2nd half kickoff and didn`t waste time. Heismann completed 3 passes to Paul Samotti on the drive to take the ball to the Texans 5. On 3rd and goal , with the Texans expecting a run, Heismann hit a wide open Otto Zaychuck in the end zone for a 35-7 lead. " Joe told me to be ready and head for the post on the play action. It all seemed to work out. I could of had a sandwich and still would have caught it I was so wide open ," noted Zaychuck.

The Terror offense, with such a big lead let their foot off the gas a little and it almost cost them. A fumble by Simmons on his own 24 led to a Texans TD , and gave them a spark. The lead narrowed to 35-28 late in the 4th.

Simmons redeemed himself with a 43 yd scamper to put the nail in the coffin. Final 42-28.

Another fantastic effort as an underdog on the road. Lets see if the black and plum can bring it with a home matchup vs the 3-0 division rival Keystones next week at Rogers Centre. Expect a look at the Plum home jerseys for the first time this year.

TERROR - 28  DALLAS - 23

It was a nice bounceback game from the Terror last Sunday in a home victory, 28-23 over the Dallas Diesel in week 5.

QB Joe Heismann was placed on covid 19 protocol before the game, so it was up to newcomer Garvey Peters to line up under centre. He didn`t disappoint.

Signed just 2 days before , he got the call and tossed 2 TD passes , one to Ivan Gleeson on a slant pattern and a 72 yard bomb to SJ Brown. " Leo came to me late last night and said I was starting so I had to learn the playbook quickly that`s for sure, " he laughed.

RB Harvey Harris also had a great game , running for 100 yards and 2 TD`s . " Mike(Simmons) left the game in the 2nd after he tweaked his back , so I was happy to scoop up the carries, " he said.

The first was a 1 YD plunge in the 1st , set up by a Victor Charles fumble recovery. The second was a 12 yd run to paydirt after great blocks by Gamberry and Rayglass on a sweep.

On the defensive side , LB Riquan Lemon made 6 tackles and Cletus Fowler had a sack.

The Terror move on to Atlanta to play the struggling Flying Fleet in week 6. Lets hope the all white look thet the Terror will bring will pay dividends down south.

It looks like Peters gets his 2nd start for the Terror. No word on RB Mike Simmons but it looks like he will travel with the team and is a game time decision with back soreness.

TERROR - 35   ATLANTA - 14

A controversy in Atlanta, an impromptu bus ride , and a defensive rookie let loose were the stories in a 35-14 Terror win over the Atlanta Flying Fleet in week 6.

On the offensive side , QB Garvey Peters fired 2 TD passes in the first half to set the pace. The first was to Paul Samotti , a 45 yd strike through the heart of the hapless Atlanta D. In the 2nd , with 4:18 left in the quarter and the ball at the Atlanta 13, Garvey rolled left and gingerly feathered a pass to Otto Zaychuck for his 3rd TD of the season. Overall Peters was 17/20 for 188 yds and the 2 TDs.

Mike Simmons , who was nursing a sore back and was carefully involved in the game plan by coach Leo Hill, rushed for a modest 73 yds and found paydirt in the 3rd on a 17 yd scamper , set up by a Quinton Mills block. " We were careful with Mike ..we didn`t want to push him with his bad back..we got a few important games coming up so we need him healthy for sure," said head coach Hill.

The real star of this game was rookie LB Riquan Lemon , who terrorized the Flying Fleet all evening to the tune of 5 sacks and a fumble recovery for a TD. " He was a monster today for us..man what a pickup he`s turning out to be ," added DL Mark Pole. It was a much needed good effort by the defense, who are starting to gel after a rocky start. Mark Pole and Calvin Kennedy added sacks to Lemon`s record total of 5.

The final tally was a pick 6 by Andre Coleman-Berger late in the 4th , for his second TD of the season.

An old fashioned 35-14 ass kicking to an Atlanta team that staged a walkout on Saturday, forcing the Terror to jump on a bus to Auburn, Ala. and play the game there.

Up next , a home tilt in week 7 against the Louisiana Royals.
